LOWER LAKES REVIEW 1 Comment re the Scope of the review and make up of presentations

Lower Lakes Review 2 Comment re the management of the Lower Lakes and sea water intrusions

  1.   Water reliability below Lock 1  Have asked questions of The Minister, Local Member and relevant authorities will little feedback or initiatives being considered.

  2. Managing opening allocations  Due to be released 15th April.§  Opening allocations of 2 %. require a further 160GL in Sth Aust storage to get any increase. Some detail and graphs in FAQs under DEW. Medindie Lakes potential to have inflows of 450GL but still below the 680GL required before SA receives any of that storage. Storeage in Hume and Dartmouth unchanged (1% increase)

  3. Limited community consultation due to COVID-19 Hopefully on the improve and then will get out and about and have a chat

  4. Will the carry-over water from 18-19 that remains un-used and in storage be calculated into opening allocations? Apparently not. With opening storeage only being 696GL it is still below the thresh hold for Adelaide and communities to get their 150 GL entitlement . No mention of Desal being put to use. This is an extract from the below link

How is the plant factored into water allocation decisions?

The plant makes a major difference to how water is shared between all South Australian water entitlement holders of the River Murray in dry years. By reducing Adelaide’s reliance on the River Murray in dry years, up to an additional 50 GL of available River Murray water is then able to be released to holders of irrigation licenses, which would not be possible without the insurance provided by the plant. This boosts irrigation allocations by up to 8 per cent and applies when irrigators are on less than 100 per cent and critical human water needs have been secured.

  5. Further questions to relevant authorities. See FAQ’s under NEWS. Very little response and the responses received require further questioning.

  6. COVID-19 Stimulus Packages for Primary Producers. Very little available. Needs further investigation
